What qualities does CGL look for in potential candidates?

Candidates who demonstrate passion for customer service, ability to demonstrate technical and/or leadership skills, willingness to grow and learn and team orientated individuals who work well with others.

Do I need a resume to apply?

It is required for professional level position and preferred for skills/trade positions.

What steps are involved in your hiring process?

Our pre-hire process consists of a company background check which includes a criminal background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle record check. Positions assigned to a municipal client’s worksite (city, county, or state facility) will also require an additional facility background check.

Do you offer any training or onboarding programs for new hires?

We have a 90-day onboarding process conducted with your supervisor as well as a new hire orientation with Human Resources and Safety to learn about company culture, structure, safety, and benefits.

As a candidate how long does it take to hear back from a Recruiter?

We often get hundreds of applications for our open positions. We follow federal requirements when we review applications, and we contact the people we would like to learn more about. Unfortunately, we are not able to make personal contact with people we are not moving forward with. You can always log in to your application profile and check the status of jobs to which you have applied.

Work Schedule

What are the typical work hours for facility maintenance staff?

Most of our positions are traditional Monday through Friday, day-shift hours. Specific hours will vary depending on the work site. In cases of emergencies or business needs an employee may be asked to work nights and weekends.

Do you offer flexible scheduling options or remote work opportunities?

Many of the positions based out of our corporate offices offer hybrid and/or remote options.

Is there an on- call schedule?

There is a Rotating Call Schedule for most skill/trade positions that employees may be asked to participate in.

Does CGL pay employees to advance knowledge and skills in various trade industries?

CGL offers a skill-based apprenticeship program which existing employees can apply directly to. Please visit our Careers page to learn more about our apprenticeship program.

Key elements of the Apprenticeship Program include the following:

  • Salary Adjustments:  Apprentices earn progressive wages as their knowledge, skills, ability, and productivity increase.
  • Structured On-the-Job Learning / Mentorship:  Throughout the duration of the training program, participants are provided opportunities to shadow and work directly with journeyman-level tradesman who assist with on-the-job training to prepare participants for a successful career.
  • Industry Led Training:  Affiliate training courses are vetted and approved to ensure alignment with industry standards and that apprentices are successfully trained by subject matter experts for their chosen occupation.
  • Supplemental Education:  Apprentices are provided trade-specific supplemental classroom education from an accredited college or university in their chosen field.  All participants are issued a company-owned laptop to assist with formal education.
  • Credentials:  Apprentices may earn industry recognized certifications and/or credential(s) during the course of program completion.

How does your organization support employees achieving their long-term career goals?

In support of the commitment to promote from within, CGL has a leadership development program which provides a combination of training and mentorship opportunities to those identified as high potential by Senior Leaders within the company.

CGL has developed partnerships with Colleges, Universities, and local trade schools to provide additional skills/trade training for our employees as well as build a pipeline of talent to join the organization.
